Most field goals made by zone, 1996-2021

Ok well there’s really not much to say here besides point out that Dirk Nowitzki is a legend. What stands out is how much Dirk preferred using the right side of the court to attack. Happy to see that Jason Terry leads the corners.

Most field goals made in a single season by zone, 1996-2021

Dirk Nowitzki, the obvious culprit, leads six zones. What a deadly corner shot he had – 44 buckets from the right corner in 2001!

2021 was the best Mavs’ best season as Luka Doncic and Tim Hardaway Jr scored a combined 161-pointers from there! Luka also broke the paint record in 2020 with his 390 field goals.

Michael Finley had a great season in 2000 and he leads the left baseline. Wesley Matthews owns the left corner since 2016.

Most efficient field goal shooters zone, 1996-2021

Hubert Davis is definitely the surprise here! He spent four seasons at Dallas and is the most efficient in four zones. Although he was not the biggest scorer, he was super efficient, averaging over 45%. 48% from the left wing is quite impressive! Seth Curry owns the right wing with 48% as well.

Dirk Nowitzki from the right elbow was definitely the most expected from this chart. That’s the only zone he leads, which kinda makes sense since he was usually heavily marked.

Jason Terry was super efficient in three zones, including his beloved left corner. Wesley Matthews owns the right corner. Dwight Powell is the most efficient scorer the Mavs have had in the paint.

Most field goals made by zone in 2003-04 Mavericks Championship team

The 2011 Mavericks are the only team that managed to bring Dallas a championship. The fans really deserved it as they had been selling out every single game since December 15, 2001. In fact, the Mavericks own the NBA sellout streak!

The Mavs entered the 2011 Finals as heavy underdogs against LeBron, Bosh, and Wade. Dirk, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, and DeShawn Stevenson were just too much for the Heat though.

Over the 2010-11 regular season, we saw Kidd and Terry take over 3-point duties, with some help from Stevenson. Dirk was in charge of mid-range shots. Shawn Marion was the paint attacker. Man, some good memories from that team!
