NBA Shot Chart: Philadelphia 76ers Leading Shooters, 1996-2021

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The 76ers are one of the most historical teams in the NBA. Philadelphia basketball fans have been lucky enough to witness amazing players such as Wilt Chamberlain, Bully Cunningham, Julius Erving, and Moses Malone, to name a few.

For me myself though, growing up in the U.S. in the 90s and playing ball as a short point guard, the greatest inspiration ever was Allen Iverson. “The Answer” was so exciting to watch and had a great impact on the Sixers. In 2001 he led them to their first finals since 1983, eventually losing to Kobe and Shaq’s Lakers.

Below are three shot charts with the leading shooters by zone in the past 25 regular seasons.

Most field goals made by zone, Philadelphia 76ers 1996-2021

Here we have it folks. I’m not surprised: Allen Iverson is the leading Sixers scorer in 7 of the 11 zones! Look at how much he liked attacking from the left side of the court. As for the other four zones, Kyle Korver leads the left corner 3. It took him 337 games for him to land 108 buckets. Robert Covington leads the right wing and he achieved this with 297 games played for the 76ers. After 615 games for Phila, Andre Iguodala leads the team in shots scored from the right corner. The straight-up 3 point leader is Joel Embiid and it’s taken him 260 games to get there.

Most field goals made in a single season by zone, 1996-2021

It’s been a crazy off-season with the whole Ben Simmons situation. His best season in the paint was in 2019 where he dropped 526 buckets with 59%. It’s interesting how good JJ Redick was in 2019 and great to see Covington lead the wings. I also like how impressively aggressive AI was from the left baseline and short corner in 2006.

Most efficient 76ers players by zone, 1996-2021

Kyle Korver from the corner – again! He scored a lot from his favorite spot and did it with great efficiency. There are a few nice surprises here as well.
